Wang Tao couldn’t help but think that if everyone lacked special abilities, Jiang Hua would undoubtedly be the one to survive until the end.
Jiang Hua bent down to pick up a flyer from the ground.
It contained a detailed introduction to the shopping mall.
When he saw the book area on the fourth floor, his gaze paused momentarily.
Wang Tao packed everything into his space, just as he heard Jiang Hua say, “Let’s go check the fourth floor.”
Jian Lexian stood on the highest rooftop of the mall, the cold wind tousling his hair as he coldly gazed down at the SUV parked below.
In this life, he would not let any accidents happen again.
He squinted his eyes.
One of the signs across the street was distorted and crushed by his spatial ability.
The connection point of the sign suddenly appeared as if cut by something.
A steel sign weighing hundreds of pounds fell to the ground.
Jian Lexian smiled slightly; it was normal for a sign to fall due to quality issues, right?
Just when the sign was about to smash onto the SUV below, He Lan seemed to sense something and looked up, spotting a dark shadow rapidly approaching from above.
“What the?!”
She activated her metal ability and used all her strength to deflect the heavy sign away.
“Bang!!!”
The sign crashed into the pavement next to them, creating a massive crater.
He Lan bent over and spat out a mouthful of blood.
The impact force coming at them exceeded her limits by far.
Seeing that deep pit, Tong Sui and He Lan inside the vehicle still felt chills down their spines.
It was so close.
They almost became a puddle of mush.
Jian Lexian on the rooftop clicked his tongue. Just as he prepared for a second attempt, he noticed a swarm of zombies rushing out from the corner, likely attracted by the earlier commotion.
He raised his chin, watching the zombies swarm toward the lone SUV.
With so many zombies, they could probably rip that experimenter to shreds.
Everything happened too quickly; Tong Sui inside the car hurried to hold He Lan steady. He looked up and saw the zombies charging toward them.
In their position, a few vehicles blocked their path ahead, and the sign had blocked them on the right.
They couldn’t get the car out.
He Lan quickly pushed him, “Don’t worry about me, just take this and run.”
Tong Sui looked down.
A pistol was thrust into his hand, and He Lan said, “I’m an ability user; you don’t need to worry about me.”
But her voice lacked strength, clearly drained from stopping the falling sign.
Tong Sui tightened his grip on the pistol.
“You get down and don’t move.” He stepped out and locked the SUV’s door.
He Lan was stunned.
Tong Sui, from a distance, raised his gun and nearly perfectly shot the zombie in the forehead.
He Lan was shocked.
She had worried about the long distance; even she wouldn’t guarantee hitting it, but Tong Sui’s expression was clearly not coincidental.
Tong Sui fired several more shots, each hitting accurately.
The zombies all redirected their attention toward him.
In his mind, he instructed the system: “Find me a route with the least zombies.”
The system replied: [Turn left here; there’s a high-end jewelry store.]
Tong Sui no longer yearned for battle and immediately turned to run.
The horde of zombies followed behind him, completely oblivious to the people still inside the SUV.
Tong Sui pushed open the glass door of the mall.
In the second before the zombies arrived, he deftly locked the glass door behind him.
The zombies slammed against it.
Tong Sui stepped back a pace, watching them collide against the glass door, even bleeding from the impacts, but showing no signs of slowing down.
He didn’t know how long the glass would hold, so he retreated a few steps.
Inside the mall, the glass display cases held various jewels, worth a fortune before the apocalypse; however, no one spared them a glance now.
Tong Sui dashed up to the second floor.
The second floor still sold jewelry but was noticeably more upscale than the first floor.
Only one shop that seemed out of place caught his attention.
Tong Sui remembered something and walked over.
This shop sold antiques and paintings, and in a corner lay an unassuming ring. He recalled that in the original plot, it was picked up casually.
“This is a spatial ring?”
The system confirmed: [Yes.]
In the original plot, this ring was discovered by Jian Lexian, who later gave it to the base leader, the protagonist.
It was a pivotal point in their relationship development.
Now, however, it had serendipitously ended up in Tong Sui’s hands.
The system stated: [Since you found it, you can keep it for your own use; we don’t need to guarantee the original plot’s progression.]
They were here to save the villain.
As for what happened to the protagonist, it was none of their concern.
Furthermore, recalling what had just happened with the sign made the system bristle with anger.
Tong Sui donned the ring, pricked his finger, and let a drop of blood fall onto it.
The originally dull ring suddenly glowed.
After a flash of light, it reverted to its original form.
Tong Sui tried putting a fan inside, only to see the ring expand into a boundless sub-space.
Within that space were mountains, rivers, flowers, and trees.
All the spiritual plants cultivated in that space could purify and enhance one’s spiritual roots.
This was meant for the original protagonist; the configuration was simply otherworldly.
Just then, a sound of shattering glass echoed from downstairs.
A large group of zombies rushed in.
Tong Sui quickly stowed the ring away and raised his gun, shooting at the leading zombie multiple times.
